ANALISIS DEL TRANSPORTE EN LAS ZONAS DE INFLUENCIA DEL FERROCARRIL.-
ANALYSIS OF TRANSPORT IN THE RAILWAYS' SPHERE OF INFLUENCE

Las tres líneas tienen posibilidades de transporte, en mayor o menor grado, pero que es menester destacar aún caundo menos forma general para llegar a la idea de la importancia que han adquirido. Sucintamente tenemos.-
The three lines have possibilities for transportation, to a greater or lesser extent, but what is necessary to detach still when in a lesser general form to reach the idea of the importance which it has achieved. Briefly we have:

LANAS: Toda la extensión de la línea y gran zona de influencia está explotada por establecimientos laneros. Los campos soportan un promedio de 500 animales por legua quadrada.- Constituyó años atrás el principal rubro de transporte, hoy senciblemente disminuído por el camión.-
WOOL: The whole length of the line and an extensive sphere of influence is exploited by wool undertakings. The fields support an average of 500 animals per square league (one animal per 11 acres). In previous years it formed the main (income) of the railway; today it is distinctly reduced by the lorry.

MINERALES: En estaciones Boca de la Zanja, Campamento Villegas y Las Chapas se carga caolín, producto que se extrae de minas ubicadas en las próximidades de las estaciones.- Este tráfico que oscila en las 25.000 toneladas giran en su transporte inicial integramente por nuestro medio, con destino a embarques marítimo o por camión desde Trelew.-
MINERALS: Kaolin is loaded at Boca de la Zanja, Campamiento Villegas and las Chapas stations. The product is extracted from mines located near these stations. This traffic, which amounts to about 25, 000 tonnes per year, travels wholly by our medium, with its destination as ships, or lorries from Trelew.

Es indudablemente el tráfico más noble que se tiene.-
It is undoubtedly the most profitable traffic which we have.

En Campamento Villegas existen canteras de Piedra Caliza cuyo producto es destinado a consumo regional.-
In Campamento Villegas there are limestone quarries, whose product is consumed regionally.

En la zona comprendida entre Campamento Villegas y Las Chapas rica en esos productos y de ello habla la explotación intensiva a que ha sido sometida y los nuevos yacimientos que aún no han sido explotadas. Tal el caso de una mina de piedra caliza que se encuentra en las adyacencias del ramal al Dique Florentino Ameghino cuya importancia es considerable.-
The area between Campamento Villegas and Las Chapas is rich in these products and there is talk of intensive extraction which has been proposed and new sources which have not yet been opened up. Such is the case of a limestone mine, which is located near the branch line to the Florentino Ameghino Dam, and whose importance is considerable.

PESQUERA: Si bién no ha cobrado aún la importancia que realmente tiene en Rawson, en la desembocadura del río Chubut operan lanchas pesqueras realizando incursiones sobre el Atlántico que es produgo en variedades de peces.- En dicha localidad existen fábricas que manufacturan el producto que es expendido en comercios locales, como así también se envía para otros centros de consumo.-
También en Madryn existe, pero en menor escala, esa industria.-
En varias oportunidades se ha hablado sobre instalaciones de fuertes compañias lo que no se ha concretado aún.-
FISHING: The importance which fishing now has in Rawson has yet to be appreciated. Fishing boats operate at the mouth of the River Chubut into the Atlantic which lavishes a variety of fish. In that place there are factories which (process) the product for sale at local outlets and also send it to other centres of consumption.
In Madryn this industry exists but on a smaller scale.
Talks have been held about installations by large companies, but nothing has come of them.

CEMENTO: Para la construcción del Dique Florentino Ameghino se transportó cemento se cantidades aproximadas de 1.500 tns. mensuales desde la fábrica Petroquimica E.N. sita en Comodoro Rivadavia. El mismo se hizo en combinación buque-ferrocarril y ahora camión-ferrocarril.- Si bién debe catalogarse de esporádico, es de citarlo por su importancia.-
CEMENT: Cement, amounting to about 1, 500 tonnes a month from the Petroquimica E N works are sent for the construction of the Florentino Ameghino Dam. It was sent by shipping-railway combination and now lorry-railway.
It is as well to define it as sporadic as much as to note its importance.

El Valle del Chubut es el más importante del Sud por su fertilidad. La explotación ne está bién orientada porque uno de los factores principales aún no ha sido salvado. Tal el caso de irrigación no regulada, ello se conseguirá con la terminación del Dique Florentino Ameghino y puede entonces intensificarse al máximo el producido que, ahora, alcanza a las hectáreas cultivadas que se dan a conocer:
VARIOUS PRODUCTS OF THE CHUBUT VALLEY: Because of its fertility, the Valley of the Chubut is the most important of the South. The exploitation is not well developed because one of the principal (adverse) factors has not yet been overcome. Such is the case of the unregulated irrigation, which will be dealt with by the completion of the Florentino Amerghino Dam and it will then be possible to increase production which will overtake the presently cultivated areas.

La gran mayoría de los productos del Valle giran a Comodoro Rivadavia donde se les ofrecen una propicia para su colocación. El transporte se efectua por medio de camiones que operan entre ambos puntos.-
The vast majority of the products from the Valley go to Comodoro Rivadavia where they are offered at a premium for their source. Transport is carried out by lorries between both points.

Otra parte es para el consumo regional y el resto gira por buques a los puertos del Sud, en especial alfalfa en fardos.-

The other major part is for regional consumption and the rest is sent by ship to the ports of the South, especially lucerne in sacks.

OBRAS IMPORTANTES: La que puede contribuir notoriamente al progreso de la zona es el Dique Florentino Ameghino que se está construyendo al 10 kilómetros al Sud de n/estación Las Chapas (Km.184).- Las perspectivas son optimas por la magnitud de los beneficios que reportará.- Aparte de la regularización de las aguas del río Chubut está en el plan la planta hidroeléctrica que suministrará corriente eléctrica a una vasta zona en la que se encuentra comprendida esta.- Para dar una mayor ilustración se dan a conocer datos del mismo:

IMPORTANT WORKS: The one which will contribute greatly to the development of the area is the Florentino Ameghino Dam which is being built 10 Km south of our station at Las Chapas (Km 184). The outlook is good for the extent of the benefits which it will bring. Apart from controlling the waters of the Chubut River there is a hydroelectric plant in the plan which will supply electricity to a vast area including that served by the railway. To illustrate this better, the following data are given:
