The tables below summarise the eventual destinations of the 1922 locomotives where known.

Table A - Locations of individual engines
Notes: Locos are merely identified as being on either the Central of Chubut (FCCC), Esquel (RIJ-E), Rio Negro or RFIRT lines. The 1934, ’40 and ’45 data comes from working timetable appendices; the 1950 RFIEP/RFIRT locos from Keith Taylorson's book and from a Ferroclub Argentino stocklist; 1960 numbers from an FCE document in Trelew museum; sightings at Lapachito by Gunter Koch and Jorge Menendez were recorded in Reg Carter's Argentinean loco lists and confirmed by 1945 FCE appendix and Ferroclub Argentino stocklist; 1971 figures from an FFCC Argentinos document quoted by Keith Taylorson; the 1975 data from my own observations; and later dates mostly from Keith Taylorson again. It is obvious that boilers were exchanged in the past, as one would expect. Locos were identified by number plate if complete, and by boiler number if that alone was visible, eg. on derelicts. Ownership details since 1993 are from 'La Trochita' by Sepiurka and Miglioli.

Of the eight Henschels that went to the RFIRT, three were derelict at Palermo Aike in 1970s.

The Argentinean Army has a 75H class loco but the number is unknown. No-one seems to know why they needed a 75cm gauge loco! Its location is also unknown.

Few of these sets of figures account for all 81 locos. Whilst some might have been destroyed in accidents or increasingly been scrapped, there is still scope for wondering whether one or two engines had been sent elsewhere, to some location not yet identified.

 

 

On the left a Baldwin boiler, unusually still bearing a rear sand dome, stands on a works trolley at El Maiten in 2000. On the right, similarly exposed to view, is a Henschel boiler. The round-top Baldwin firebox contrasts with the Belpaire version on the European loco.
